Airline Pilot Jobs

It has been predicted that due to many factors Airline Pilot Jobs are on the rise and that the demand for airline pilots is expected to increase significantly. Huge growth in airline travel, upcoming retirements and other economic factors point to the possibility that these predictions are likely to be true. Backed up by the incredible amount of orders for new aircraft being placed by airlines it would appear that suitably experienced pilots will have a choice of jobs available to them. In this article I would like to talk about an option, which is not the mainstream choice for pilots but is an option very worthwhile and worth considering.

While most pilots will follow a career path that takes them from general aviation to the regionals or business aviation, with a final step to the major airlines within their own countries. What we are seeing now though are countries with massive expansion in airline travel and insufficient pilot numbers to crew these aircraft. While China is a perfect example of this there are many other Asian countries such as Japan who have this problem. The solution that most are using is to employ contract pilots from around the world to fly their aircraft and they are offering substantial incentives to attract them.

This is not something new, Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways for example has been employing foreign pilots for decades.  Japan is now and has always been encumbered by an extremely slow process which can see their cadets take years before being qualified to fly the aircraft on commercial operations. To encourage pilots to fly for them they offer Airline Pilot Jobs in the form of a commuting contract.

This is a technique used to get around the problem of pilots not wanting to live away from home permanently. There are many different variations to this but basically pilots will fly from there home to another country, work for the airline for a certain number of weeks then commute home and have an entire block of time off all at once. The amount of time off will vary depending on the contract and it allows pilots to spend quality time at home with their family.

Added to this we are seeing remuneration packages increasing now as the demand for pilots is increasing. As an example All Nippon Airways offer their contract pilots a guaranteed  ten days off a month plus two commuting days to get to and from work. C class travel is provided to get you home in comfort. Korean Airlines also offers a very similar package. With a competitive Pilot Salary thrown in this makes for a very good option as far as any Airline Pilot Jobs are concerned.
